MOBILE OVERWATCH
A SMEAC VETERAN HUB SERVICE
Mobile Overwatch
A SMEAC Veteran Hub Service
To reach veterans living in remote or regional areas, SMEAC is launching Mobile Overwatch – a flexible, veteran-led outreach service delivered through SMEAC-branded rovers and vans.
These mobile teams will be staffed by trained veterans who either reside in the areas they serve or deploy directly from Camp SMEAC.
Mobile Overwatch represents a key evolution in SMEAC’s regional engagement model.
These teams will travel monthly to conduct Discovery and Triage sessions, host social connection activities, and work alongside local communities to strengthen veteran support systems.
By maintaining a consistent presence, they ensure that SMEAC services remain accessible—even in the most isolated locations.
Veteran isolation is a major factor in mental health decline.
Through regular events such as breakfasts, morning teas, and barbecues, our teams foster real connection—providing safe spaces where veterans and their families can reconnect, engage, and feel supported by those who truly understand their journey.
In addition to social events, teams will conduct initial triage to assess needs, offer wellbeing support, and provide practical guidance on navigating the complex network of veteran services and entitlements.
Where appropriate, they will refer individuals for follow-up care with SMEAC’s medical partners, ensuring a holistic, person-centred approach.
Mobile Overwatch also extends to families.
Each quarter, teams will deliver family-friendly events aimed at strengthening household bonds and encouraging wider community trust.
As part of their role, they’ll also gather key insights into the challenges faced by regional veterans, providing vital on-the-ground intelligence to shape future SMEAC programs.

Ultimately, this service is about presence, trust, and meaningful engagement.
By connecting with local stakeholders and communities, Mobile Overwatch teams will help build awareness, foster partnerships, and strengthen resilience across the veteran landscape—one town at a time.
The Mobile Overwatch concept is a key innovation.
These capable, trained teams will travel monthly to regional and remote areas, ensuring seamless access to SMEAC services.
Each team will conduct Discovery and Triage meetings, facilitate social connection activities, and collaborate with local communities to strengthen veteran support.
Isolation and disconnection are leading contributors to depression.
That’s why SMEAC places such importance on developing and delivering an effective mobile outreach program – bridging the gap for veterans who may otherwise go unseen and unsupported.
These mobile teams, comprised of experienced veterans employed by SMEAC, will be trained to lead, manage, and deliver the following services:
-
Discovery & triage sessions
-
Social connection activities
-
Peer-to-peer wellbeing support
-
Local engagement and community partnerships

SMEAC SERVICES AND SUPPORT
ENGAGEMENT MODEL
SMEAC’s Engagement Model is built on trust, consistency, and veteran-to-veteran connection.
We meet individuals where they’re at—without judgement—and guide them through a structured support journey focused on reconnection, rehabilitation, retraining, and reintegration. It’s a hands-on, relationship-driven approach that delivers real results.
WELLBEING COACH
The role of the Wellbeing Coach is to educate, guide, and empower veterans to take ownership of their journey—supporting them to navigate the DVA process and broader life challenges with confidence and independence.
Mobile Overwatch
SSMEAC’s Mobile Overwatch is a proactive outreach initiative where trained veterans check in on those who may be isolated, at risk, or in need of support. Operating across the region, our teams offer a watchful presence, a listening ear, and immediate assistance when required—ensuring no veteran is left behind.
Rapid Response
SMEAC deploys teams of veterans to support fellow veterans in need and families in crisis—delivering timely, practical help grounded in trust, shared experience, and solidarity. These teams provide more than just assistance; they offer reassurance, peer connection, and a reminder that no one has to face hardship alone.
