AMPHIB FISHING
A CAMP SMEAC SERVICE
AMPHIB Fishing Club
is one of SMEAC’s most popular and enduring veteran-led clubs, built around the simple yet powerful act of casting a line and sharing good yarns. It’s not just a fishing club—it’s a community, a safe space, and a therapeutic outlet for veterans and supporters alike.
Who can join? Everyone. AMPHIB is open to veterans, their families, and members of the general public. Whether you’re an experienced angler or picking up a rod for the first time, you’re welcome here. The club embraces all skill levels and backgrounds, making it an inclusive space where learning, laughter, and connection come naturally.

Whether you’re fishing from the shore, drifting in an estuary, or heading offshore, AMPHIB offers a relaxed, no-pressure environment that fosters mateship and mental wellbeing. For many veterans, it provides structure, calm, and a sense of routine—key ingredients in managing stress, anxiety, and the invisible wounds of service.
Sitting on a jetty, waiting for a bite, conversations often flow more easily. There’s no judgement—just good company, fresh air, and the gentle rhythm of the water. It’s not about landing the biggest fish—it’s about finding connection, purpose, and peace. The isolation that often shadows life after service begins to lift, replaced by shared stories, support, and smiles.

SMEAC CLUBS BRING PEOPLE TOGETHER
Beyond the fishing trips, AMPHIB strengthens bonds. Members swap gear, trade tips, and often involve their families, creating a positive, intergenerational experience that enriches everyone involved. Kids learn from veterans, civilians hear service stories, and friendships form across all walks of life.
Like all SMEAC clubs, AMPHIB plays a key role in our broader mission of veteran reconnection. It gives people a reason to show up, a team to belong to, and something to look forward to—rain, hail, or shine. Because sometimes, the best kind of therapy involves bait, a rod, and mates who understand.

SMEAC SUPPORT CLUBS
Chess Mates
CHESS MATE – SMEAC’s Chess Club is built on the foundations of strategy, patience, and connection—mirroring SMEAC’s broader Engagement Model of veteran support.
We bring veterans and civilians together over the chessboard, fostering trust, focus, and camaraderie in a calm and welcoming environment. Every game is a chance to build consistency, sharpen the mind, and engage in healthy, structured competition.
Through chess, members reconnect with themselves and others, often rediscovering lost confidence and a sense of purpose. Whether a seasoned player or learning for the first time, everyone is welcome—because at Chess Mate, it’s not just about winning. It’s about creating space for thoughtful interaction and personal growth.
Like SMEAC’s core model of reconnection, rehabilitation, retraining, and reintegration, Chess Mate offers a hands-on, relationship-driven approach that delivers real outcomes—one move at a time.
SMOKING HOT
SMOKING HOT – SMEAC’s Meat Barbequing Club is fired up by a shared love of good food, good mates, and great conversation around the coals.
Who can join Smoking Hot? Veterans and members of the general public—gathering together over sizzling grills to break down barriers and spark connection. The club plays a key role in SMEAC’s fourth R: Reintegration, creating an informal space where camaraderie and community thrive.
More than just barbequing, Smoking Hot brings people together in a relaxed, no-pressure environment. Veterans rediscover routine and purpose through preparing meals, sharing techniques, and feeding the crowd—an act of service that’s both grounding and rewarding.
It’s about more than cooking meat. It’s about reigniting pride, confidence, and connection—turning simple barbeques into powerful moments of trust and belonging. The skills learned and friendships forged often open doors to broader support, volunteering, or training pathways.
Whether you’re a seasoned pitmaster or just curious to flip your first snag, Smoking Hot welcomes all who want to reconnect through the simple, shared joy of outdoor cooking. Every gathering helps fuel SMEAC’s mission—one plate at a time.
SWARM PATROL
SWARM PATROL, SMEAC’s dedicated beekeeping club, is more than just managing hives—it’s about restoring purpose, building trust, and reconnecting with community through meaningful activity. Veterans, their families, and members of the general public are all welcome to join, creating a unique environment where shared learning and collaboration thrive.
At the heart of Swarm Patrol is SMEAC’s commitment to trust, routine, and shared experience. There is no judgement—just calm, structure, and a common purpose. Whether you’re a seasoned apiarist or a total beginner, every member is supported and valued as part of the hive.
The club directly reflects SMEAC’s structured Engagement Model built on the 4Rs: Reconnection, Rehabilitation, Retraining, and Reintegration. Swarm Patrol enables veterans to reconnect with themselves and others, rehabilitate through peaceful, purposeful work, retrain by developing new skills, and reintegrate alongside supportive peers from all walks of life. It’s a practical, inclusive, and results-driven approach that helps veterans and civilians alike find connection, achievement, and direction.
SMEAC DIGGERS
SMEAC DIGGERS – SMEAC’s Gardening Club is rooted in connection, routine, and purpose. It offers veterans and supporters a chance to get their hands dirty, breathe fresh air, and grow something meaningful—together.
Whether it’s native bush regeneration, permaculture, vegetable plots, or ornamental gardens, DIGGERS brings people together across generations and backgrounds. It’s more than just gardening—it’s healing through nature, structure, and shared goals.
Who can join DIGGERS? Veterans and members of the public alike. DIGGERS supports the fourth pillar of SMEAC’s 4Rs—Reintegration—by creating a calm and inclusive space for veterans to reconnect with the wider community, build friendships, and rediscover purpose.
Through teamwork and seasonal routines, members of DIGGERS gain a sense of ownership and pride. It’s a tangible way to cultivate wellbeing, reduce isolation, and contribute to the ongoing development of Camp SMEAC’s beautiful grounds.
