SMEAC CLUBS
“Support. Purpose. Community.”
CONNECTING WITH A SENSE OF PURPOSE
SMEAC Clubs provide a unique and inclusive environment where veterans can reconnect with a sense of purpose, structure, and community.
After transitioning from military service, many veterans face isolation, uncertainty, and a loss of identity.
By engaging in club activities—whether it’s gardening, fishing, beekeeping, or smoking BBQ – veterans regain that vital sense of belonging and routine.
These clubs create space for skill-building, peer support, and emotional wellbeing in a way that feels natural, hands-on, and judgment-free.
BUILDING BRIDGES
Beyond the direct benefits to veterans, SMEAC Clubs act as a bridge between the veteran community and the general public.
Locals, family members, and supporters are welcomed into club activities, forming genuine friendships and breaking down barriers.
These shared spaces foster mutual understanding, reduce stigma around military experiences, and demonstrate the power of community-led inclusion.
The simple act of growing food, playing chess, or brewing mead together or whatever builds common ground where differences fade and respect grows.

SHIFTING THE NARRATIVE
In bringing people together through shared interests, SMEAC Clubs help shift the veteran narrative from one of need to one of leadership and contribution.
Veterans become mentors, organisers, and teammates—showing the wider community not just what they’ve overcome, but what they have to offer.
For the public, it’s a chance to give back, learn new skills, and support a meaningful cause. For veterans, it’s a chance to feel seen, valued, and part of something bigger once again.
CHESS MATES, CHESS CLUB
SMEACs OWN CHESS CLUB
Chess Mates is more than just moves on a board, Chess Mates fosters connection and community. It opens the door to conversations, quiet reflection, and shared laughter. Regular games and casual tournaments bring veterans and locals together, reinforcing SMEAC’s mission of structured support, purpose, and belonging—one thoughtful move at a time.

ANFIB, FISHING CLUB
The AMPHIB Fishing Club is a relaxed, veteran-led fishing group under SMEAC, offering regular trips and meet-ups for veterans and supporters who love casting a line and enjoying the outdoors. Whether you’re an experienced angler or just starting out, AMPHIB provides a supportive, low-pressure environment that promotes connection, wellbeing, and mateship through shared time on the water.
SWARM PATROL, APIS CLUB
SWARM PATROL – SMEAC’s APIS Club is a buzzing community of veterans and supporters united by a shared passion for beekeeping, sustainability, and service. Named after the Latin word for “bee,” the APIS Club provides a hands-on, purpose-driven environment where members learn to care for hives, harvest honey, and support local ecosystems. Like bees in a hive, every member has a role, contributing to a greater mission that reflects SMEAC’s ethos—discipline, teamwork, and collective strength.
DIGGERS, GARDENING CLUB
SMEAC DIGGERS is SMEAC’s gardening club, offering veterans and community members a chance to connect through nature, fresh air, and shared purpose.
From permaculture and veggie patches to native bush regeneration, DIGGERS caters to all gardening interests and skill levels.
It’s a space for growth—of plants, friendships, and wellbeing—where digging in the dirt helps heal, reconnect, and build community.

SPANNERS, TECH WORKSHOP
SMOKING HOT, SMOKER CLUB
SMOKING HOT – SMEAC’s Smoker Club is where camaraderie meets the art of low-and-slow cooking. Veterans and supporters gather around the smoker not just to prepare mouth-watering meals, but to build connection, share stories, and create a sense of belonging. Whether it’s brisket, ribs, or homegrown veggies, the focus is on patience, craft, and pride in the process—values deeply familiar to those who’ve served.

Your donation isn’t just charity—it’s a lifeline. It’s a stand for those who stood for us. Every contribution helps a veteran access real solutions, find community, and rediscover hope.
