SMEAC SERVICES

A Veteran-Led Sanctuary of Support and Purpose

Located near Landsborough on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, Camp SMEAC is more than a retreat – it’s a purpose-built sanctuary created by veterans, for veterans and their families.

It provides a safe, healing space for reconnection, empowerment, and growth, ensuring no veteran is left to navigate life alone.

Understanding the unique challenges faced by those who have served, SMEAC delivers a range of targeted, transformative services that foster purpose, connection, and long-term wellbeing.

SMEAC’s Core Services:

Veteran Wellbeing Coaches – SMEAC’s Wellbeing Coach program helps veterans navigate the DVA system confidently using a Tell Me / Show Me / Let Me model.

These experienced professionals empower veterans to take charge of their future while working in tandem with traditional advocacy services.

Coaches operate from the SMEAC RAP, satellite locations, and via Mobile Overwatch Teams, offering accessible, ongoing support—both face-to-face and remotely.

Veterans Helping Veterans – SMEAC has a long-standing commitment to veterans supporting veterans.

Once fully operational, Camp SMEAC will relaunch this proven service, deploying teams of trained veterans to assist peers and families in crisis.

This peer-led initiative strengthens camaraderie while delivering meaningful, hands-on assistance and emotional support.

Skills Training & Purpose-Driven Activities – SMEAC recognises that purpose is key to a successful transition.

Veterans will be offered practical training, upskilling opportunities, and structured programs that help build confidence and identify new career pathways.

From trades and leadership development to meaningful volunteering, SMEAC helps veterans rediscover purpose and direction.

Mental & Physical Rehabilitation Programs – True healing involves both body and mind.

Camp SMEAC’s rehabilitation services include mental health support, physical fitness programs, outdoor therapies, and resilience-building activities.

Delivered in partnership with health professionals and peer networks, these services are evidence-based and designed to support long-term recovery.

Community & Social Reintegration – SMEAC brings the community to the veteran.

Rather than expecting veterans to reintegrate alone, SMEAC fosters reconnection through community events, networking opportunities, and social engagement.

This approach creates an inclusive, respectful environment that supports positive, self-paced reintegration.

Camp SMEAC isn’t just a place – it’s a movement. A lifeline. A home.
Through these veteran-centric programs, SMEAC is reshaping what it means to transition, heal, and thrive.

SMEAC SERVICES AND SUPPORT

SMEAC ENGAGEMENT MODEL

When a veteran reaches out for support, it’s often because they’re facing complex challenges and aren’t sure where to turn. They may not fully understand what services are available, what they’re entitled to, or how to access the right help.

That’s where SMEAC steps in.

SMEAC WELLBEING COACH

To address the challenges outlined above and to enhance the existing system, SMEAC will include Wellbeing Coaches as a core part of its support model.

The role of a Wellbeing Coach is to educate, guide, and empower veterans to take control of their DVA journey. Operating on the Tell Me / Show Me / Let Me model, this approach helps build confidence and capability by supporting veterans to:

  • Understand the DVA system and their entitlements

  • Navigate processes with clarity and purpose

  • Develop the skills to manage their own claims and health pathways

  • Gain greater independence and reduce long-term reliance on advocacy services

Wellbeing Coaches Walk beside veterans—offering practical guidance, emotional support, and the tools to succeed. This peer-driven model ensures veterans are not just helped but truly equipped to help themselves.

SMEAC MOBILE OVERWATCH

Moving forward, SMEAC will expand its regional reach through mobile teams that either reside within the remote areas they support or deploy as needed from Camp SMEAC, operating in SMEAC Wellbeing–branded Rovers or Vans.

These Mobile Overwatch units ensure consistent, face-to-face engagement across isolated communities—delivering the same high standard of support, guidance, and triage available at Camp SMEAC. By going directly to where veterans live, SMEAC reduces barriers, builds trust, and ensures no one is left behind due to distance or disconnection.

SMEAC RAPID RESPONSE

SMEAC has long been committed to restoring a veteran’s sense of purpose, with proven success in deploying veteran-led teams to support peers and families in crisis. This spirit of service and camaraderie remains central to SMEAC’s mission.

Once Camp SMEAC is fully operational, this essential Veterans Helping Veterans program will be relaunched. It will ensure that those who have served continue to stand beside one another—offering practical support, emotional resilience, and timely assistance whenever and wherever it’s needed.

EMERGANCY ACCOMMODATION

SMEAC has long been committed to supporting veterans in crisis, and emergency accommodation is a vital part of that mission. Camp SMEAC offers safe, short-term housing for veterans facing homelessness, displacement, or personal emergencies—providing stability during their most vulnerable moments.

Once Camp SMEAC is fully operational, this essential housing service will expand. It will ensure veterans have immediate access to shelter, support, and a pathway to long-term solutions—because no one who served should ever be left without a place to call home.

MATESHIP

SMEAC has long recognised that mateship is the backbone of the Australian veteran community. Built on trust, shared experience, and loyalty, mateship creates a powerful sense of belonging that helps veterans feel understood, valued, and never alone.

At Camp SMEAC, this unbreakable bond is nurtured through every program and activity. Whether it’s a chat over the BBQ, a shared mission, or standing shoulder to shoulder in tough times—mateship is what keeps veterans connected, supported, and strong.

Because no one who served should ever have to face life after service on their own.

PSYCHIATRY SUPPORT

Veterans will soon have access to a DVA-savvy psychiatrist at Camp SMEAC for professional mental health assessments aligned with the DVA claims process.

These sessions are focused on supporting accurate diagnosis, effective treatment planning, and providing the documentation needed to navigate mental health claims—with a psychiatrist who understands veterans and the DVA system.

DVA SAVVY DOCTOR

Veterans will soon be able to book appointments with a DVA-savvy doctor at Camp SMEAC for dedicated physical health assessments tailored to the DVA claims process.

These assessments are designed to support veterans in navigating complex paperwork, documenting injuries, and strengthening their claims—with the guidance of a doctor who understands the system.

Veterans will soon have access to on-site support from:

  • Physiotherapists

These services will be delivered in a veteran-friendly environment, designed to support recovery, improve mobility, boost mental health, and encourage long-term wellness—all in one place.

    Mobile Overwatch

SMEAC will extend its regional reach through mobile teams based in or deployed to remote areas—providing localised overwatch and ensuring that veterans in isolated communities receive consistent, face-to-face support when and where it’s needed most.

    Rapid Response

SMEAC deploys teams of veterans to support fellow veterans in need and families in crisis—delivering timely, practical help grounded in trust, shared experience, and solidarity.
